At ULTRARENT we use advanced, portable XRF and OES analysers, which allow inspections to be carried out in the field and results to be obtained instantly, compared with laboratory analyses, which delay manufacturing and assembly processes.
Testing is carried out by inspectors certified to EN ISO 9712, level 2 and 3.
Can PMI determine carbon content? Portable XRF analysers cannot detect carbon or other light elements, so XRF alone cannot distinguish, for example, between steel grade 304 and its low-carbon variant 304L. Where carbon content matters for acceptance, we use OES (optical emission spectrometry), which measures it directly. XRF analysis itself is carried out in accordance with ASTM E1476.
