Non-Destructive Testing Warsaw, NDT Testing Warsaw

NDT Testing Enables

the detection of material discontinuities that may occur in welded joints, castings, forgings, and other industrial products. For this purpose, we can use the currently available types and techniques of testing. Depending on the method used, NDT testing in Warsaw enables the detection of internal or surface discontinuities. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. Detectability plays a key role in non-destructive testing and depends on many factors. A method that gives satisfactory results when testing one product may prove completely useless when inspecting another element.

The choice of the appropriate method of non-destructive NDT testing is always considered individually in relation to the type of product being tested and depends, among other things, on: – the welding method used – the grade of the base material – the type of joint and its dimensions – the shape of the finished element, surface condition, and access – the type of heat treatment applied – the applicable or agreed quality levels – the expected types of welding discontinuities, their location, and orientation relative to the adopted reference point. Depending on the class of the structure, which results from its level of responsibility, inspection is carried out using a single testing method or a combination of methods. NDT testing is an excellent tool for quality control of manufactured products.

Visual Testing VT Warsaw

Visual testing is the most basic and least expensive way to inspect all kinds of products, including welded joints. It involves a thorough visual examination of the tested surface. VT testing is mandatory for all types of structures, welded joints, castings and forgings. Because it is fast, low-cost and highly effective, it is always carried out first. Visual testing can be used to check component preparation during the production process, to verify quality during manufacturing, and to inspect finished products.

Penetrant Testing PT Warsaw

PT penetrant testing is used to detect surface welding and material discontinuities. It is usually carried out after visual testing. The method is most often used for inspecting metal products, but it can also be applied to other materials, provided they are unaffected by the testing media used and are not highly porous. Thanks to the nature of the method, it can be used to inspect non-magnetic materials such as aluminium or austenitic steel. It also works excellently for inspecting hard-to-reach components with complex geometries that are difficult to test with MT due to the difficulty of magnetising them.

Magnetic Particle Testing MT Warsaw

MT magnetic particle testing is used to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities located at shallow depth when inspecting ferromagnetic materials. Detecting discontinuities in welded joints and other products inspected using the magnetic method involves inducing a magnetic field in them and detecting the local magnetic leakage flux that forms above the location of a defect. In MT testing, a special ferromagnetic powder is used to reveal the leakage fields. The magnetic testing method achieves very effective results quickly. For this reason, this inspection method is recommended for testing non-alloy and low-alloy steels.

Ultrasonic Testing UT Warsaw

Ultrasonic testing is one of the non-destructive testing methods that makes it possible to detect internal discontinuities. UT testing involves sending an ultrasonic wave into the tested material. The portion of the beam reflected back to the probe is processed and appears as a light pulse on the flaw detector’s screen. UT testing makes it possible to detect all kinds of material inhomogeneities in the tested components, such as: cracks, lack of fusion, pores and inclusions. It works excellently for detecting planar discontinuities. The pulse-echo method is most commonly used for quality control of metal products. Ultrasonic testing is much faster than radiographic testing and can also be successfully used to inspect materials of very large thickness. In addition, the ultrasonic beam is completely harmless to the human body.

Radiographic Testing RT Warsaw

Among all testing methods, radiographic testing occupies a significant position, especially when it comes to detecting internal material discontinuities. RT radiographic testing is considered to be one of the most reliable non-destructive testing methods. Industrial radiography is widely used in practically all manufacturing, operation and repair processes for pressure equipment. It works excellently for inspecting pipelines, but it is also commonly used across many industrial sectors for testing welded, brazed joints, castings and forgings. Excellent results are obtained when inspecting components of small and medium thickness. Testing can be carried out on both metals and synthetic materials. An additional advantage of this testing method is undoubtedly the unambiguous interpretation of the indications obtained.
